My Special Childhood Gift / Keepsake - Tell us about your special childhood keepsake - what was your favourite? My favourite keepsake - 'Teddy'
Probably the oldest of my childhood keepsakes is 'Teddy'. Although I have spent many an hour thinking of lovely endearing names for teddy he has always reverted back to his proper title, just 'Teddy'. Although wearing a little green dress made from one of my husbands pairless socks, trying to be feminine, he still remains 'he' Teddy was given to me by my Granny when I was three, I don't really know how old he was then, she said it had been my Dad's. He was offered along with a larger one but little 'Ted' appealed the most to me, just the right size for carrying around, dressing up and making tiny beds in shoe boxes for. Over the many (45 years) Teddy has joined me on every journey of my life, not just little trips to the meadow for picnics under the sheltering oak tree close to my home, but long far away adventures to Greece, Malta and Peru, taking up valuable space in a well crammed rucksack - but I wouldn't have been without him. He is my special friend, and always will be. © My 'Teddy' by Rebecca To submit an article please email - contact us here Quiet and Sam Two of my favourite possessions are Quiet and Sam, knitted for me by my grandmother as a gift for my fifth birthday. I used to take the pair everywhere and the image I am sending shows a picnic I remember very clearly on a beautiful day in the Yorkshire Pennines at a spot my family used from when I was a small baby. © Quiet and Sam by Jemma To submit an article please email - contact us here
Charlie - The lost bear
Charlie, a Gund bear that had been bought as a christening gift, went missing and my young son James was inconsolable. I rang the company who sent me a replacement and we successfully made it look less new before giving it to James who was delighted to be reunited with his teddy. A few days later we went to the corner shop and there on the counter was the real Charlie that a customer had found and handed in. “Look mum, there’s my Charlie. How’s it got here?” he screeched. It took a fearful lot of explaining, I can tell you. © My Lost Bear by Emma Jane
